The
DH: Revolutionizing the Act of Pitching
BIG Z Sports is the
collaboration of two long-time ball players and coaches, former
Los Angeles Dodger's first round pick, pitcher Jim Haller
and former BYU pitcher Steve Zawrotny. Based in Oklahoma City,
OK, they've created a new system for training pitchers
of all ages and skill levels - The Designated Hitter Pitching
Training System (The DH). As pitching instructors, they
both realized that current methods of preparing pitchers for games
are largely inadequate. Quite simply, what pitchers do in
bullpen sessions is rather different from what they face in games.
The result is the DH, a professional quality training tool that
will change how pitchers practice their craft at all levels of the
game!
Jim is a former 1st round draft pick of the Los Angeles
Dodgers. He is
now a pitching consultant for the Lincoln Saltdogs, a minor league
baseball team based in Lincoln, Nebraska, and a private pitching
instructor.
Steve is one of just a handful of individuals
with playing and coaching experience at the NCAA D-1 level who
is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
with the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA).
He has nearly 30 years of combined experience as player and coach.
As an All-Star high school pitcher growing up in the Los Angeles,
California area, he was recruited by some of the top college baseball
programs in the west. Attending Brigham Young University
(BYU) on a baseball scholarship, his career there was cut short
due to an arm injury. He then became a graduate assistant baseball
coach at BYU before going on to coach at the high school level,
including successful Varsity, Connie Mack, and American Legion
programs. A few of his players have gone on to play in college
and professionally. Steve now does private baseball pitching
and bat speed training instruction in the
Oklahoma City, OK area.
